Library Volunteers Honored at Annual Brunch

Volunteers Recognized

More than 50 staff, volunteers, Friends board and library board of trustees members attended the annual volunteer brunch, sponsored by the Friends of Schlow Memorial Library, on April 3, 2003. The event was held at The Autoport in State College.

Eight volunteers received special recognition for their years of dedication to the library, including Mary Lovett, who, for the past 45 years, has been a volunteer at the library. Mary's husband Philip, who is retired from Penn State, joined her at the library as a volunteer in 1978.

The following individuals were recognized for their volunteer service and had a book of their choice added to the library's collection:

Shirley Stanton: "Timelines of World History"
Barbara Thwaites: "The Great National Parks of the World"

35 years
Eleanor J. Lindstrom: "The Story of Gardening"

45 Years
Mary C. Lovett: "Rodale's Illustrated Encyclopedia of Organic Gardening"

Stanley P. Mayers Jr., a member of the Friends Board, provided the introductions.

Mary and Philip Lovett have a combined 75 years of volunteer service at the library.
