is the home page of the Centre County Federation of Public Libraries (ccfpl).
This home page provides library cardholders access to the catalogs of every
public library in Centre County, as well as online references and databases:
LEARN A TEST
A source of test preparation materials and interactive practice exams, based
on official tests, that will help to improve scores on academic, civil service,
military, and professional licensing and certification exams. Immediate scoring,
complete answer explanations, and individualized analysis of scores.
WILSON WEB BIOGRAPHIES
More than 95,000 biographies and obituaries and more than 26,000 photographs
of the subjects. Full text, abstracts, and citations from all the articles from
all volumes of Current Biography, the World Author Series, Nobel Prize Winners,
World Artists, World Film Directors, American Reformers, and more.
PA POWER LIBRARY
Access to AccuNet/AP Multimedia Archive (500,000 current and historical
photographs); EBSCOhost (thousands of full text articles); Searchasaurus; Poem
Finder (over 70,000 full text poems); Groves Dictionaries of Music, Art,
Astronomy, Astrophysics and Life Sciences; Contemporary Authors; Bigchalk and
SIRS Discoverer; plus search 2,700 PA libraries via the ACCESS PA database.
SEARCHING LIBRARY CATALOG
Access the catalog from www.ccfpl.org or www.schlowlibrary.org. You can search
Schlow Library or Centre County Library catalogs separately or simultaneously
(along
with other select catalogs).
You may search by Keyword or by
Alphabetical browse for authors, titles,
subjects or general keywords. You may also limit your search to particular
collections or locations. Once you have typed in your search words, press
Enter or click the
Start Search button. Your screen will display the following:
- Search results: number of records found
during the search.
- Displaying: numbers of records the
screen is currently displaying.
Listed will be all of the records that were found based on the search you
performed. To see the next group of records, click on the Next icon at
the top or the bottom of the screen.
View Full Record
Displays the full title, author name, publisher, book description, collection
code, call number, book status (checked in or out), due date and tells you if
the book is on hold.
Make Request
This button is at the bottom of the
Full Record
screen. From here, you can request to have a book put on hold for you.
You just need to enter your Borrower ID (your 14 digit library card number).
Reserves may be placed in person, by phone,
or by using this reserve function in the catalog. You can also sign up to be
notified by e-mail when your reserved item is available.
Patron Info
Click on the Patron Info icon located on
the
New Search screen of Schlow's catalog
and enter your borrower ID. A screen will appear, identifying you as the card
holder. From this screen you can click on the following icons:
- Items Out: lists current items you have
checked out. From here you can renew one
or all of your checked out materials.
You may renew items a maximum of two
times if they are not on hold for another patron. Please read the computer
screen carefully to make sure the renewal was successful. You may renew items by
phone as well as through the catalog. Short-term videos may not be renewed.
- Fines & Blocks: lists outstanding fines
or if you have a block on your card.
- View Hold Requests: view your record
of current holds.
Searching Centre County Library’s Catalog
Almost everything that applied to searching Schlow’s catalog applies here.
You can search the Centre County Library, Aaronsburg Library, Centre Hall
Library, Holt Library, the Bookmobile, or all locations. However, you cannot
make a request online for a Centre County Library item. Please ask the Schlow
staff for help if you want to borrow from one of these locations.
Searching Multiple Libraries
You can search the catalogs of other libraries in addition to searching
Schlow's catalog. You do this by either clicking on the
Broadcast Search button while viewing Schlow's catalog, or
returning to the Main Menu and clicking on Multiple Libraries.
You can search one or more of the following catalogs simultaneously:
Centre County Library
Schlow Centre Region Library
Penn State University Libraries
Library of Congress
You can search by author, title or subject. Select the libraries you would like
to search and click
Submit Broadcast Search. Results will come back listing the names of the libraries and the number of
records found at each location which match your search. Click on the library you
wish to search in order to view the records found at that location.
ADDITIONAL DATABASE SEARCHING
Using public stations at Schlow Library, you can access the Internet and
search various databases.
Elibrary: A more comprehensive version of
Bigchalk, with full text newspapers, books,
magazines, transcripts, maps, etc. (Also available via
www.schlowlibrary.org)
Novelist: A readers advisory database for
all ages that helps fiction readers find similar books based on author, title,
genre, or even textual description. (Also available via
www.schlowlibrary.org)
The Title Source II: An exhaustive
database of in-print materials with many ways to search, including author,
title, subject, ISBN and more.
Wilson Catalogs: Selective annotated lists
of fiction, nonfiction and reference for adults and children that includes
established and contemporary works either written in or
translated into English. (Also available via
www.schlowlibrary.org)
World Book Online: Encyclopedia with current
events, monthly features and multimedia.
