I just took a walk through the library and was so pleased to see so many different people using this great place. Our children's department is "buzzing" with kids who have caught the reading bug by being a part of our summer reading program for children. There are bugs EVERYWHERE in the children's department - some are bookworms, some are paper, and there are even some REAL LIVE bugs for you to come and look at. We have 2 butterfly habitats set up - a monarch habitat and painted lady habitat. Some of the painted ladies have already transformed and are flying about.

JA Babay from the Centre Hall Library is reading "Janko and the Giant", the Breakfast Serial printed each Saturday in the CDT, at the Millheim Pool, starting today at 1 PM. This is one way to get kids to take a break out of the sun and sit down to rest a little during the hottest times of the day or during a thunderstorm break.

As I came to work yesterday morning, I waded through several people waiting for our nine o'clock opening time. I felt bad opening the door to the library and tucking myself into the air conditioned environment, letting out just a tiny waft of the coolness that awaited inside, teasing them. This heat has been tough on everyone, I think. Mostly because it's so early. Rest assured, the A/C is ON at the library and we'd love you to come in and enjoy it with us. Bring your laptop and take advantage of our free WiFi.

OK, so the downloadable audio seems to be taking off wonderfully! Thanks to all of you who have checked it out and tried it. I know many people have wondered why it won't work with Macs or iPods and, simply put, it's a licensing thing. Unfortunately there is a lot of competition in the digital world and it takes a little while to work those issues out. Please be assured that we will provide access to iPod & Mac users as soon as it becomes available and affordable to us.

How can Schlow Library help you save money on gas? Easily! We've got downloadable audiobooks available for your use. Not only do you not have to drive to the library to get these books, you don't have to drive back to return them!
Thanks to the Central Pennsylvania Library District, we have partnered with Centre County Library and their branches as well as the public libraries in Clearfield, Juniata, and Mifflin counties to provide a growing collection of downloadable titles that you can play on your mp3 player. Some titles can also be burned to a CD for play later.

Crazy Clowns are cracking the calm at Schlow Centre Region Library this Thursday! The circus won't officially roll into town until the end of the month, but we're getting a free preview as Ringling's very own clowns are coming to the library to lead a special one time only story time at 1:00 pm on April 10th.
If you're crazy for clowns or you love a loon, Schlow is WHERE IT'S AT this Thursday. Glorify the goofiness, come for the comedy be a fool for the foolishness - this is the place to be for some slapstick stories that will exercise your mind and body!
