Captivating and colorful, at first the works of Bellefonte artist Karyn Debrasky may be mistaken for paintings. Upon closer inspection, a much more complex picture emerges, as the medium of each piece is revealed to be a combination of richly layered papers, found objects, and handmade textures.
Look closely at the intriguing pieces by local artist Ruth Kempner in this month's exhibit. Infused with her sense of whimsy and intense thoughtfulness, these new collages and watercolors tantalize the imagination.
Discovery is the essence of Kempner's art. She is an adventurer - an explorer always willing to take risks. Each work opens a new frontier for experimentation with different surfaces, textures, and mediums, including transparent and opaque watercolor, acrylic, gouache, and casein.
Local artists Maxine Levin and Judith Finkelstein bring a spirited use of color and rich imaginations to their inventive, mixed-media work on display this month.

- Inventive and intriguing, Alyce Ritti's mixed-media collages are full of surprises. As she cuts, pastes and layers with diverse materials, she creates theatrical images that are sometimes satirical, sometimes sympathetic. Each is a single act, meant to start a conversation with the viewer.more info

Most of Holly Fritchman's exquisite artwork is inspired by nature. From intricate portraits of a single acorn to gorgeous landscapes of an autumn marsh, her work draws one in with its elegant beauty.
Fritchman describes "each art experience as a gift of time...every time I pick up my brush or pencil, I see something new." Balancing the fine detail of watercolor and pencil with the looseness of oil painting keeps her energized and curious.
