more infoThe Betsy Rodgers Allen Gallery is located on the first floor, just outside of the community room and features the work of new and established artists from the area. Because exhibits change monthly, there is always something new and local to enjoy.
more infoCazia Bradley is a local artist with a whimsical imagination that is clearly evident in her work. Her black and white lithographs of fun and freaky creatures--appropriately titled "April Foolies"--are featured in the newly named Betsy Rodgers Allen Gallery. Drawing inspiration from prehistoric cave paintings, Vincent Van Gogh, and modern artists like Paul Klee and Jean Debuffet, Bradley's prints challenge us to a game of sorts: what do you see? Be sure to bring the kids and stop by the children's department too where there are Xerox copies of the prints for coloring.
Artist William Daup's portraits of The Muses will be on display in the Gallery during the month of February. Rendered in oil on canvas, both popular culture icons and historical figures have inspired Mr. Daup to create haunting contrasts of light and shadow. Friends of Mr. Daup have arranged an opening reception for the 2nd of February, from 6-8 pm. This event is free and open to the public.more info

January may bring snow and ice to Happy Valley, but inside the library, there is a hint of the Southwest hanging in the gallery. Don't miss the opputunity to view the colorfully abstract work of local artist John Ziegler. The show will run from the 2nd to the 29th.more info
Winter may be closing in, but bleak forecasts and gray skies will be swept away while viewing the soft, traditional watercolors hanging this month in the library's gallery. Artist Sofia Austin studied under the painter Libe de Zultagui and her work radiates the heat and vibrancy of her birth country, Columbia. Don't miss this oppurtunity to chase away the winter blahs! November's exhibit highlights exemplary work by The Nittany Valley Chapter of The Embroiderers Guild of America, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation of and education in the art of needlework. The guild welcomes new members whatever your skill level. Members will also be on hand in the Library between 12-2 P.M. the first three Wednesdays and Saturdays of November during which time they will present their artistry in action. more infoOctober is the perfect month for an exhibit of local artist Clay Anderson's extra-ordinary paintings. Reminiscent of the early 20th century Surrealist Movement in Italy, Mr. Anderson's work encorporates the realistic depiction of mundane objects and figures to create dream-like settings that the viewer will be sure to find inspirational.
more infoA retrospective on the works of M. Robert Des Marais will be featured in the gallery throughout the month of July. An associate professor at Pennsylvania State University, Des Marais was heavily influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright and was one of State College's most prolific architects. His design for the facade of the first Schlow Library on College Avenue will be among those prints on display.

The Gallery is located on the first floor of Schlow Library next to the Community Room and the Front Entrance. Select artists display their pieces on a rotating basis. This Gallery is free and open to the public during normal library hours.
