It's officially July and the Library's Annual Juried Exhibition is now open to the public. From July 2 to July 30th, come and cool off with more than 40 unique works by artists from all over the Centre Region. Don't miss this opportunity to get to know the work of our talented neighbors. We think they will inspire you to pursue your own creative outlets. After looking at the show, we recommend browsing the adult collection for more information on the artists' techniques.
The Gallery is pleased to present the works of clay artist, Linna Muschlitz from May 1st to May 31st. An opening is scheduled in the Library's Downsborough Room, Sunday, May 6th from 2 to 4 PM. Stop in a talk with the artist about her inspiration and her techniques.
The award-winning poet, Robert Lima, has framed some of his published poems with photographs and other images conveying the themes of his works. In celebration with National Poetry Month, these eloquent visual pieces will be on display in the gallery from April 2nd to April 30th. A reception and book signing will occur on April 21st from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm. Stop in for coffee, snacks and a chance to talk to Dr. Lima about his work.
- On January 22nd we unveiled a new sculpture by artist Mark Pilato, donated by Blake and Linda Gall. Modern Day Thinker stands on the landing of the stairwell to the second floor, contemplating the compass attached to the weather vane atop the Library's landmark cupola. A scuba diver and world traveler, fiber artist Sandi Garris imbues her colorful work with her passion for exotic cultures and natural patterns. Inspired by rich coral reefs and lush rain forests, Garris mixes red, yellow, and blue MX dyes to create hundreds of hues and shades to color the fabrics used in her organically graphic artwork.
Diane Maurer is a published author, artist, and teacher. She is represented in numerous museum collections around the globe, including the Cooper-Hewitt Museum, Harvard University Library, The Suleymaniye in Istanbul, and The Museum of Antiquities in Urumchi, China. Her one-of-a-kind work has also been commissioned by companies such as Godiva Chocolate, Lenox China, and HarperCollins. An accomplished paper artist, her careully constructed work conveys the depth, texture, and care of an expert. If you'd like to learn more about Ms.

The Underground Artisans Marketplace, the first "alternative" arts and craft show to surface in State College, is a unique arts and craft venue for local artisans to showcase their creative endeavors to the community. UAM was initiated to reconnect the mindful buyer with the modern handmaker and to bring awareness to the ideas of "buying local" and "going green."
Artisans from the Centre Region will be selling handmade clothing, jewelry, and stylish home decor; original artwork, pottery, upcycled and repurposed vintage clothing and wares, graphic design, vinyl records, DIY and more!
FREE ADMISSION! Proceeds from the exhibitor's fees will benefit Schlow Library.
