  • Award Winning pieces from the 3rd Annual Juried Exhibition

    A big thank you to all the artists who contributed work to the 3rd Annual Juried Exhibition. You made it a wonderful success!

    1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize winners were announced during the opening reception on July 12th and an additional monetary prize was awarded to an up-and-coming student artist in recognition of their emerging talent.

    What an exciting experience for the library staff and the Friends! We are looking forward to next year.

  • 3rd Annual Juried Exhibition Now Open

    It's officially July and the Library's Annual Juried Exhibition is now open to the public. From July 2 to July 30th, come and cool off with more than 40 unique works by artists from all over the Centre Region. Don't miss this opportunity to get to know the work of our talented neighbors. We think they will inspire you to pursue your own creative outlets. After looking at the show, we recommend browsing the adult collection for more information on the artists' techniques.

  • Accepted Entries Announced

    The Gallery Committee and Schlow Library are pleased to announce those entries that have been accepted into the 3rd Annual Juried Exhibition. With over 60 submissions, and a limited amount of space, the decision was an exceptionally difficult one. The Committee would like to thank all the artists who submitted work this year. We are proud of the great talent that exists in our community and welcome the opportunity to exhibit your work in the future.

  • Untitled in Oil, by David Charriere
    Local artist David Charriere's intriguing portraits are characterized by an expressive depth. His impressionist brush strokes and classic palette combine to echo the style and composition of such painters as Berthe Morisot and Édouard Manet. A keen eye will notice that this show includes two studies Charriere has done from works by favorite artist John Singer Sargent.

  • Orange Lily silk painting by Linna Muschiltz

    The Gallery is pleased to present the works of clay artist, Linna Muschlitz from May 1st to May 31st. An opening is scheduled in the Library's Downsborough Room, Sunday, May 6th from 2 to 4 PM. Stop in a talk with the artist about her inspiration and her techniques.

  • Gestation by Dr. Robert Lima

    The award-winning poet, Robert Lima, has framed some of his published poems with photographs and other images conveying the themes of his works. In celebration with National Poetry Month, these eloquent visual pieces will be on display in the gallery from April 2nd to April 30th. A reception and book signing will occur on April 21st from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm. Stop in for coffee, snacks and a chance to talk to Dr. Lima about his work.

    Step into a richly colorful contrast to our wintry days. Local artist and business owner Sarina Bower displays her beautifully detailed flower portraits, as well as handsome depictions of special Pennsylvania artifacts, throughout the month of February.

  • Venetian Mystery IV by Veronica Winters

    Local artist, teacher, and author Veronica Winters has a gift for creating sublime, peaceful work that reflects not only her realistic sensibilities, but also her appreciation for the unexpected. Ms. Winters draws inspiration from the brushwork of such artists as John Singer Sargent and Edouard Manet. Moreover, her work often contains hidden meanings similar to those of artists Dali and Magritte.
