  • There is more to Andy Warhol than Campbells Soup or Marilyn Monroe. 

    Sarah Rich, Art History Professor at Penn State, has done research and wrote publications on many different artists.

    She has written a book about American art during the Cold War and is currently working on a book about Jean Dubuffet. She likes to explore the life of the artist and the time period that encompasses the art. 

    Andy Warhol is very unique and there is a lot more than meets the eye.

  • Bees are a very important part of our environment. More important than you know. 

    Maryann Frazier is the Senior ExtensionWhen you extend the time that you have your materials checked out. Associate in the Department of Entomology at Penn State. 

    She will speak about the disatrous affects of the shrinking bee community. Many bees are mysteriously disappearing and it is affecting bee keepers as well as the agicultural economy.

  • Viruses can seem very scary, but they can also be our friend. Some can cause illness and others can be beneficial to the host. 

    Biology Professor at Penn State, Mary Poss, has studied interactions of viruses for years.

    She has been trying to discover why viruses will affect some animals, but not others. Her main research has been between the difference of FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus) in cougars and HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) in humans.

  • Abraham Lincoln had much more of an impact than people already believe. 

    Mark Neely won the Pulitzer Prize for History for his book, The Fate of Liberty: Abraham Lincoln and Civil Liberties.

    Neely is very knowledgable in American History in the Civil War Era and can provide a lot of insight into the time period.

    Lincoln is one of the most interesting and well-known presidents of America and there is still so much more to learn.

  • Kieth Cheng, Professor and Chief of the Division of Experimental Pathology at Penn State will be discussing his research on skin color. 

    He did studies with Zebrafish to find a connection between light skin and dark skin.

    His research has gone a long way towards finding the strand inside humans that causes skin color and ways to help with skin cancer in the future.  

    If you are interested in the science behind your skin this is the talk for you.

  • Ali Carr-Chellman, a former 3rd grade teacher, talks about improvement in American Schools. 

    She is now a Penn State professor studying the impact of technology on education. 

    She has published more than 100 articles and book chapters, 4 books, and is currently working on biofeedback video gaming.

    Did you make a New Year's resolution to get fit, lose weight, reduce stress or be healthier? Now is the time to revisit those plans with the help of experts in a wide variety of areas.
