The Gallery is pleased to present the works of clay artist, Linna Muschlitz from May 1st to May 31st. An opening is scheduled in the Library's Downsborough Room, Sunday, May 6th from 2 to 4 PM. Stop in a talk with the artist about her inspiration and her techniques.
Muschlitiz spent her childhood in the woods among majestic oak, maple, larch and hemlock trees, yet only two miles from Penn State. From ages 5 to 15 she attended Penn State's Saturday Morning Art Classes for Children established by Viktor Lowenfeld, where she relished exposure to varied artistic mediums and instruction from world-class artists.
In 4th grade she had her first pottery class, and decided to be a potter when she grew up. After graduating from Penn State with a BA Visual Arts-Ceramics, she earned an MS in Art Education from the University of Oregon, taking pottery classes and workshops in a variety of settings along the way.
Travel to exotic and colorful places like Guatemala, Papua New Guinea, Australia, Mexico, Hawaii, and our own National Parks have been sources of inspiration for both her clay work and her richly colored silk paintings.
Muschlitz's works have been featured in juried shows in Hawaii, Oregon, and
Pennsylvania, and have won awards in all three states.
