Local artist David Charriere's intriguing portraits are characterized by an expressive depth. His impressionist brush strokes and classic palette combine to echo the style and composition of such painters as Berthe Morisot and Édouard Manet. A keen eye will notice that this show includes two studies Charriere has done from works by favorite artist John Singer Sargent.
A student of Philadelphia's Studio Incamminanti and the Putney Painters of Vermont, Charriere teaches Open Studio Portrait Classes every Tuesday from 9:30am-12:20pm at Atelier de Charriere, 220C South Allen St., State College, PA and at the Art Alliance of Central Pennsylvania.
The exhibtion will run through the month of June.
