H2o The Essence of Life

Sylvia Apple, recognized for her innovative quilt designs and mixed media pieces, exhibits her elegant work at Schlow Centre Region Library's Betsy Rodgers Allen Gallery from December 3 to December 28, 2012.

An artist for over forty years, Apple is inspired by the natural world. In her Central Pennsylvania studio Sylvia creates "quilted paintings," sculpture in clay, stone and metal, and paintings in oil and water-based media. A believer that art should be an integral part of people's lives, she makes pieces that enrich both private living spaces and public environments.

A graduate of Penn State University in Integrative Arts, Sylvia has exhibited nationally, winning numerous awards. She has worked on commissions for the White House, the William Penn Museum and private and professional collections in the USA, Europe and Japan. An experienced teacher on the national scene, she still sees herself as a student of life as well as of art.
