Details
Whether the work is painted canvas, print, or thrown pottery, Ignacious Wentling is a multi-talented artist with a penchant for texture. His work recalls the soothing, natural beauty of Plein-Air landscapes, while his sculptural, impasto brushwork enthusiastically reveals striking spatial evolutions that lead the viewer to question whether the work is truly a landscape or something less definable. As an artist, he believes that he is "constantly challenged to analyze each step along the developmental progression to determine aesthetic wholeness and balance in form, texture, color, and composition." But, such adherence to traditional rules doesn't mean this artist's work is in any way traditional. Mr. Wentling embraces accident and risk for "the naturally formed element of each artwork gives rise to an appreciation of individuality which can never be precisely duplicated."
The library is pleased to present this exhibition throughout the month of December.
