Concert: Chris Forsyth & Peacefeather
Guitarist Chris Forsyth's hypnotic compositions assimilate art rock texture with folk, blues, and experimental influences. His 2012 Kenzo Deluxe LP/CD on Northern Spy has been described as "resonant [and] incisive... a cosmic abstraction of the American guitar tradition, reducing blues, rock, folk and improvisation into their spare, hypnotic base elements." (Philadelphis City Paper). Forsyth was awarded a 2011 Pew Fellowship in the Arts and resides in the City of Philadelphia, USA.
With State College origins (and now scattered along the east coast), Peacefeather is a collective of aural, textual and visual artists. Their influences are as diverse as they are deep--from the writings of Philip K Dick, to the pop songs of the Beach Boys, their performances blend original video artwork, synthesizer drones, drum machines, remote Skype performances, and for this performance, Indian sitar. Peacefeather has performed their unique style of sets in a wide range of unique locales, from art galleries, to PSU Centre for Sutainability, to the Penn State ice rink, to WKPS's late-night avant-garde radio program. Their latest self-released CD is called "on the rain of a star."
