On September 18 at 6:30 p.m., the Evening Book Group will discuss Riding the Bus with My Sister, Simon's yearlong account of riding public buses with her sister Beth, who has an intellectual disability. This meeting will be held in the Musser Room instead of the usual location. In September, the book groups will be discussing works by author Rachel Simon in coordination with Penn State's Office of Disability Services for Disability Awareness Month.  Penn State will show the film version of Riding the Bus with My Sister, starring Andie MacDowell and Rosie O'Donnell, in the Foster Auditorium at Paterno Library on Tuesday, October 9 at 4:30 p.m.

On Thursday, October 11, at 7 p.m. Rachel Simon will appear at Penn State in the auditorium of the Lewis Katz Building. She will speak about growing up with her sister Beth and will change your perspective about people with intellectual disabilities. Admission is free and open to the public. Free parking for the event is available at the Lewis Katz building. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
