National Library Week Web Scavenger Hunt, Day 4
For National Library Week, April 10-16, we are highlighting different resources that are available to you through Schlow with a scavenger hunt for information on our website. Send your answer to the daily question to email@example.com to be entered into a prize drawing each day. At the end of the week all entrants will be entered into a prize drawing for a Nook eReader. Wednesday's question: What is happening at Schlow Library on Tuesday, May 3? Having trouble finding the answer? Stop by the Adult Department ReferenceQuestions that you ask of library staff that require knowledge of the content of the collection or other resources such as those on the web. Sometimes you are referred to the answer, hence Reference. Reference can also refer to our reference materials that are often encyclopedic books that have many volumes and a concentrated number of facts and/or statistics. These materials usually have an overnight loan period so they are available in the library most of the time. Desk, call (814-235-7816) or chat with us online and we will help you get the answer to any of the questions.
Tuesday's question: What is the name of the Puerto Rican newspaper that you can access through NewsBank, our newspaper databaseA subscription to a (password protected) website full of information. ?
Answer: The San Juan Star. NewsBank can be accessed through our Online Library. Click on the "America's Newspapers" link on Newsbank's front page and it will bring up the list of sources by state. Puerto Rico is listed under "U.S. Outlying Areas." NewsBank will also give you access to full text articles from The New York Times, The Washington Post and the Centre Daily Times.
We're also having a paper scavenger hunt in the Adult Department all week long. Pick up a paper entry form at the Reference Desk to participate.
