All writers are invited to participate in this roundtable discussion about autobiographical or memoir writing.

Our meeting on April 10 will focus on memoir writing. Rather than inviting one person to speak, we thought it would be a great subject for everyone to explore together. Please tell your writer friends who might not be on this list to join us!

Even if memoir writing isn’t your thing, I’ll bet you have read some great memoirs and can share your opinion about what worked or didn’t work. Feel free to bring along an example of writing (2-3 minutes or so) to illustrate a point.

Here are some of the topics we’ll discuss:

Why should we write about ourselves? Who cares?

What is the difference between memoir and autobiography?

What are the challenges in writing memoirs and autobiographies?

Should you frame your memoir as a novel or short story, or just stick to the facts?

How can we shape events and people into stories?

Do you have other suggestions? Send them to Sally Driscoll at sallydriscoll@verizon.net and she'll put them on the agenda.
