Jerry Zolten, musician, associate professor of communications at Penn State Altoona, and music producer for the Fairfield Four (known to most people from "O Brother, Where Art Thou?"), will discuss how he has integrated his passion for American roots music into a writing side business that has included books (Great God Amighty! The Dixie Hummingbirds: Celebrating the Rise of Soul Gospel Music), cd liner notes, magazine and journal articles, radio programs - including Chimpin' the Blues, a syndicated show on public radio with Robert Crumb, and other outlets. Zolten has also been a speaker with the Pennsylvania Humanities Council Commonwealth Speakers Program. His latest work, "The Beatles as Recording Artists," will appear in the forthcoming book The Cambridge Companion to the Beatles (Cambridge University Press).
