Viruses can seem very scary, but they can also be our friend. Some can cause illness and others can be beneficial to the host.

Biology Professor at Penn State, Mary Poss, has studied interactions of viruses for years.

She has been trying to discover why viruses will affect some animals, but not others. Her main research has been between the difference of FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus) in cougars and HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) in humans.
