Weddings, showers and reading

I drove to Pittsburgh this weekend for my daughter's bridal shower. Of course, we spent time with the wedding plans since the wedding is in less than three weeks. My daughter is also a librarian so we both realize that this is within the next date due period. The books we checked out on Saturday would be due on her wedding day.

The wedding activities did not stifle my weekend reading at all. Driving down, I listened to "Through a Glass Darkly" by Donna Leon. This is a mystery series about Italian police commissario, Guido Brunetti. She has written 17 books about Guido and he has a large following. Each book paints a compelling picture of Venetian life, as Commissario Brunetti tracks down the evil doers.

I was already reading "Stage Fright" by Christine Poulson, which takes place in Cambridge, England. I had borrowed this copy on Interlibrary Loan and knew I had to finish it to return it, but it was no problem, since the ending was so mesmerizing, I couldn't even put it down. I had to read that while the younger folk were still asleep early in the morning.
