New website!
After months of planning, getting feedback from staff and patrons alike, we've launched our brand new website. We hope that you find it easy to navigate, and that it will become a great tool for you to keep in touch with what is going on at Schlow. Most of what was on our previous site is still here, plus some new additions! Now many of our programs will be available for online registration! Also, we've implemented a new calendar structure to help you find what's going on at a glance.
What's new

Online Library
Through various partnerships with the state, district, county, and regional level, we are able to provide you access to a wealth of powerful information, even while the library is closed. We've tried to present all of these to you in a way that is easy to find what you are looking for. This is a work in progress, but we are excited to share with you where we are now. Please share with us what you think! -
Blogs
The staff at Schlow library create some pretty great content on other sites. We pull it all together here. Watch this link for additional blogs and content in the near future. . . -
Calendar & events
You can view our calendar to find library events, or take a look at the upcoming events lists for each of our service areas. Subscribe to the calendar in your favorite calendar tool (like iCal or Google Calendar) by clicking the iCal icon (

How do I . . . ?
"How do I" is a list of frequently asked questions about the library and the services it offers. Think of it like a "Frequently Asked Questions." You can also provide us feedback by rating how helpful a particular "How do I" was in answering your question. Have a question you don't see listed? Suggest one. -
Comments & Suggestions
How do I isn't the only way you can interact with the site. You can always get in touch with us via the links at the top-left of every page (beneath the "My account" button). What's more, you can discuss library services and programs with your fellow patrons; the full listing of much of our content has the ability for you make comments. -
Suggest a book & interlibrary Loan
Unable to find an item in Schlow Library? You can use this form to request any item not owned by Schlow Library, either via interlibrary loan or by suggesting to it to Schlow's collection. -
Library terms
Learn to speak "Library-ese." Some of the terms used in "Library Land" can be confusing to those of us without specialized education or experience. What's more, if one of these terms shows up somewhere on our site, you can "hover" your mouse over and/or click on it to get the definition. -
Featured itemsBooks, audiovisual materials, periodicals.
Each major section of our site has it's own "Feature" area (to the right). Every time you go to a section, one will be displayed from a list of chosen features for that section. -
Signup for programs
Many of the library programs you know and love will begin taking registrations online. We are phasing this in to get used to the new workflow, so please be patient--but also on the lookout for this convenience.
Navigation
-
Search
We've tried to set up the site to help you easily find what you need. The upper right hand corner offers 2 search options - You can search within our website or within our library catalog. Just choose which you'd like to search and enter your search term. -
My Account
To access your library card account, click on the "My Account" button on the left hand side of the site--his will allow you to sign in to your personal library account where you can create booklists, browse the library collection, see what items you have checked out and renew them if you need to or request holds on books that are checked out by someone else. Many of the items in our collection also offer first chapter excerpts - does the book pass the 3-page test? Now you can find out! -
Service area tabs
Click on one of the tabs accross the top-right of each page to view content filtered by that specific service area. If relevent, some sub-menus will also then appear under the "Schlow" menu on the left. -
Context sensitive lists
Most of the individual pieces of content on the site will automatically provide you with at least a couple of lists of related content. We hope this will assist you in finding what you are looking for. If you click on any of the terms associated with content, you should get similar 'helper lists,' and even a 'tag cloud' that visually represents what terms have the most content associated with them.
