What's Worthy?
The way the economy is right now, so many of us are watching our dollars and cents. This includes watching our minutes and hours. it seems like a financial "crisis" makes us all more aware of the value of our time & money. I find myself grouping errands into one or two trips instead of the daily drive back into State College for a "Wally World" run. And becoming aware of that, it got me thinking... Why haven't I been doing this all along?
For me, it was a matter of what is worthy of my time and effort. At the library, we have been talking about what gets people to come into the library for research as well as for programs. Why would a person spend their valuable time here? I don't think it's just for the free parking. And it's certainly not for the convenience of getting here (have YOU driven down Beaver lately?). So why is the library very often quite busy? Why do we sometime have standing room only at our programs and other times have no one? Why does the Children's Department often hum with activity, even when school is in session? read more
