The Chess Club will start up again on Saturdays from 1-4 PM in the Sun Room. Some instruction and assistance will be available. Bring a board, set and clock (if you have any). There are chess sets available at Schlow anytime, especially the beautiful sculpted set by Mark Pilato (see photo). You must be 8 or older to participate.

What's My Pin? Do I Need a New Card?

Having trouble checking on your account? Don't panic! You just need to come in and get a new library card and PIN number. If you don't know your PIN number, just call us and we'll be happy to help you!

We are turning a page on the history of libraries in Centre County by joining our catalog with that of the Centre County Library. Each library will remain its own entity, but we are now sharing resources across the county.

Every library card holder in Centre County will need to exchange their old card for a new federation card. This can be done very easily at the circulation desk as you enter the library.

What does this mean for you?

You can place holds on items from public libraries in Bellefonte, Centre Hall, Aaronsburg, Philipsburg, and, of course State College. In the past these items would need to be placed on Interlibrary Loan, which can take some time to process.
Items from the above locations will be delivered to the library you specify.
You can pay your fines at any public library location.
You can return your items to any public library in the county.
Our catalog is now expanded to include all items available here and at the Centre County Library locations.

Read It, Watch It 2009

The State Theatre has once again worked with us to present the summer "Read It, Watch It" series.

Every Wednesday at noon, the State Theater will present a classic children's movie based on a popular book. Admission is free; each week a different charity will be spotlighted and donations of canned goods and non-perishable food itemsBooks, audiovisual materials, periodicals. will be collected for the State College Food Bank.

Read It, Watch Is is also sponsored by State College magazine & Wegman's.

4 programs, now online

We have four different summer reading programs this year--one for every age group.

New in 2009 is the fact that much of what you need to do to participate can be done online. Register, record AND write reviews of what you read, right from your computer. If you do not have access to a computer at home, or are unsure how to proceed, the library has many computers, staff, and volunteers to assist--stop in and ask for a hand!

Each program has its own prizes to clame--click the "related content" links to the left to learn more about each.
