The road to lifelong learning begins at your library. Discover a world of free services and resources here. Information is available at the referenceQuestions that you ask of library staff that require knowledge of the content of the collection or other resources such as those on the web. Sometimes you are referred to the answer, hence Reference. Reference can also refer to our reference materials that are often encyclopedic books that have many volumes and a concentrated number of facts and/or statistics. These materials usually have an overnight loan period so they are available in the library most of the time. desk, by phone, email and online. Books, magazines, newspapers and audiobooks are all at your fingertips. Use the public computers and get help from the excellent reference staff. Schlow Centre Region Library Community Afghan Project: Warm Up America

Ladies & Gentlemen, start your hooks & needles!

We are participating in a community afghan project to help Warm Up America and YOU can help.

To participate, please knit or crochet a quilt square (or many, if you like) that meets the following criteria:

7" x 9"
Washable yarn
Any Color

Our drop in Knitting group will assemble the afghans to be donated to a local community agency. Please feel free to download our instruction sheets for your referenceQuestions that you ask of library staff that require knowledge of the content of the collection or other resources such as those on the web. Sometimes you are referred to the answer, hence Reference. Completed squares can be turned in to the Reference Desk on the 2nd flor of the library.

Schlow now offers free MP3 music file downloads on our website through Freegal Music, an online databaseA subscription to a (password protected) website full of information. that provides access to songs from the Sony Music Entertainment catalog.

To view, browse, and download music from Freegal, go to the box near the top of Schlow's homepage that says "Our Online Resources 24/7" and select "Download music" from the drop down menu. All Schlow Centre Region Library cardholders are eligible for three free MP3 downloads per week. A Schlow library card number and PIN are all that are necessary to access and download songs. The music files are compatible with PCs, Macs, iPods, iPads and other MP3-compatible devices and do not expire. No special software is needed to use the service and there are no digital rights management restrictions.

Freegal Music contains over 500,000 songs from Sony Music artists, including current hits like Ke$ha's "TiK ToK," classics songs such as Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run," jazz standards like Dave Brubeck's "Take Five" and more.

New music is added daily, and there are thousands of artists, tens of thousands of albums, and. over 100 genres of music represented. The content is based upon a license with Sony Music Entertainment, owner of 54 music labels.

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program will once again be offering Free Tax Help at Schlow Library for low-to-moderate income individuals and families.

Beginning February 4, noon to 4 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays, until April 12. In the Musser Room.
