Buzzeo, Toni. Little Loon and Papa, Dial Books for Young Readers, 2004. It's time for diving lessons, but Little Loon is too nervous. This tale of fatherly support is just right for anyone on the verge of learning a new skill.
Collard, Sneed B. III. Animal Dads, Houghton Mifflin Company, 1997. This book looks at the natural world with fathers cast in the caregiver role, showing a wide range of surprising parenting skills.
Dorros, Arthur. Papa and Me. Harper Collins Publishers, 2009. Lush illustrations show the close bond between a father and son.
Ernst, Lisa Campbell. This Is the Van That Dad Cleaned. Simon and Schuster, 2005. Dad's clean van doesn't survive an outing with his children.

WOW! SUMMER IS FINALLY HERE!

It's time to Be Creative @ Schlow Library and sign up for our new ONLINE Summer Reading Program. PICK UP YOUR COPY OF THE SUMMER READING PROGRAMMING AND INSTRUCTION PAMPHLET IN THE CHILDREN'S DEPARTMENT!!!

Registration begines May 15. The last day to log your books in for prize tickets is August 19.

Children ages 3-12 may register ONLINE beginning May 15 by clicking on the link to the 2009 Summer Reading Program "Be Creative@ Your Library". Register by clicking on "Sign Me Up".

We will offer magic and live reptile shows, cooking presentations, fairy house crafts, and many, many more exciting programs at Schlow this summer! Visit Medlar Field and hang out with the Spikes Baseball Team, and don't forget to check out the FREE movies at the State Theatre every Wednesday!

Remember- Books read before June 1 may not be counted for tickets and prizes.

Be Creative @ Schlow Library this summer and sign up for our new ONLINE Summer Reading Program. PICK UP YOUR COPY OF THE SUMMER READING PROGRAMMING AND INSTRUCTION PAMPHET IN THE CHILDREN'S DEPARTMENT!

Registration begins May 15, 2009.

This summer we will be offering many exciting and innovative programs and reading incentives to inspire creativity and encourage the growth of imagination! Click on the left of the screen to check our Tremendous Tuesday craft schedule and our Wednesday Everybody Storytime schedule.

Join us for our Family Fun Fair on Saturday, June 6 from 11 AM-2 PM and register for the program!

For those wishing to keep track of their books on a paper log before entering them into the computer, there is a link to the left to print one out! Online log-in instructions are also provided.

Registration begins May 15. Visit our website, schlowlibrary.org/children, to sign up, or for a bit of extra guidance use one of the computers in the Children's Department!

Pig Out on Books in March!

Prepare to Pig Out on Books! March 1st was set aside "to accord the pig its rightful, though generally unrecognized, place as one of man's most useful domesticated animals." Visit the library for pig games, crafts and plenty of pig fun all month long!

November Gallery Exhibit

November's exhibit highlights exemplary work by The Nittany Valley Chapter of The Embroiderers Guild of America, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation of and education in the art of needlework. The guild welcomes new members whatever your skill level. Members will also be on hand in the Library between 12-2 P.M. the first three Wednesdays and Saturdays of November during which time they will present their artistry in action. Come and enjoy this traditional, decorative art.

Swing by Schlow for crafting fun! Every Tuesday from 11 AM-2 PM during Schlow's MAKE A SPLASH@ YOUR LIBRARY Summer Reading Program the Children's Department will be offering free crafting programs.

June 15: Quack, Quack, Be Quackers! Create a cool Duck Visor to wear in the sun!

June 22: Hop along to Schlow to construct a goofy frog puppet!

June 29: Everything is in full bloom in June- including your very own flower pinwheel!

July 6: Celebrate your individuality and freedom of thought at Schlow by designing a Freedom Child puppet!

July 13: Swim into Schlow to fashion a colorful Woven Fish!

July 20: Blurp, blurp! What kind of fish mask will you design today?

July 27: Surf's up at the library! Put on some suntan lotion and create a surfboard bookmark for relaxing outdoors reading days!

Join us for our annual Family Fun Fair on Saturday, June 5 from 11 AM to 2 PM and sign up for our ONLINE Summer Reading Program, Make a Splash @ Your Library! Registration for the Summer Reading Program starts May 15, and can be accessed through our website or in the Children's Department at Schlow.

Come for one or all of the family programs. Hug some Costumed Characters: Meet a Bear who likes Honey in his Tummy, a Cat with a Red Striped Hat, a Big Red Dog and other friends! Tons of free fun for everyone!
