Teen Tech-athon aims to connect young adults with a wide variety of technology available in the library throughout March. Check out the audio books, downloadable audio, movies, music, Mango language, and plenty more.

Ebooks now available!

You can now download ebooks from our Overdrive media portal (as well as audiobooks.) They will work on Sony e-readers, Barnes and Noble Nooks, or your computer. They will not work on Amazon's Kindle. Our brand new ebook collection has some of the most popular books currently at Schlow Library like The Help by Kathryn Stockett, Kisser by Stuart Woods, The Postmistress by Sarah Blake, Food Rules by Michael Pollan, Game Change by John Heilemann, as well as many other selections.

You'll need to download the free software Adobe Digital Editions to use this new media format and you can find instructions on how to do this here. Please contact support if you need any assistance with this new service.

New for Fall in the Adult Department! Join us for 4 weeks of information and fun.

Week 1 - September 21 - READ - Learn about Schlow's ebookeBook, or electronic book, is a book that you "read" on your computer screen. Schlow highlights one book a month from our collection of eBooks available at NetLibrary which can be found by logging into your account. There are many different books available for your perusal. collection and try out a nook, Kindle and Sony eReader.

Week 2 - September 28 - LISTEN - Learn about Schlow's downloadable audiobooks and the devices that play them.

Week 3 - October 5 - EXPLORE - Watch demonstrations of an iPhone and Droid. Bring your own phone and questions.

Week4 - October 12 - INTERACT - Learn more about Skype and Google Chat. Try it out!

All classes will be in the READ Room in the Adult Department on the above Tuesdays from 10:30 - 11:30 AM. Need help with the ereader you got for Christmas, or thinking about getting one?

Shonda will teach you ereader basics and how to download Schlow's ebooks during the Simply eBooks class on Jan 14.

Amy will demonstrate and provide assistance with Kindle Fires and Nook Colors on Jan 21.

Want to learn how to "tweet" and join the conversation on Twitter, or just want an explanation of what Twitter is?

Karen will teach a Twitter class on Jan 28.

All classes will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the Musser Room. Bring your curiosity and your questions.

Schlow is now offering eReading and Tech Support by appointment. Bring your device and your questions to get one to one help.

*Get basic instructions for using your tablet, eReader, or reading app.

*Get help using free eBooks and downloadable audiobooks from Schlow.

*Get help downloading and using our free apps and online resources like Zinio and Freegal

If you are having trouble using your eReader or tablet to access our eBooks and other digital resources we are here to help. Do you need a demonstration or face-to-face help, but can't make it to our Gadgets for Grownup classes? Did you come to a class and struggle in a classroom environment? If so, you are welcome to ask questions at the referenceQuestions that you ask of library staff that require knowledge of the content of the collection or other resources such as those on the web.
