Schlow's new Go Club meets every Sunday in the Sun Room from 1:45 - 4:45 PM. All skill levels are welcome. Instruction and assistance is available. Bring a Go set (if you have one). For ages 12 and up.

Buzzeo, Toni. Little Loon and Papa, Dial Books for Young Readers, 2004. It's time for diving lessons, but Little Loon is too nervous. This tale of fatherly support is just right for anyone on the verge of learning a new skill.
Collard, Sneed B. III. Animal Dads, Houghton Mifflin Company, 1997. This book looks at the natural world with fathers cast in the caregiver role, showing a wide range of surprising parenting skills.
Dorros, Arthur. Papa and Me. Harper Collins Publishers, 2009. Lush illustrations show the close bond between a father and son.
Ernst, Lisa Campbell. This Is the Van That Dad Cleaned. Simon and Schuster, 2005. Dad's clean van doesn't survive an outing with his children.
Grambling, Lois. G. Daddy Will Be There, Harper Collins, 1998. Simple sentences assure the reader that, no matter what happens, Daddy will be there!
Hines, Anna Grossnickle Hines. Daddy Makes the Best Spaghetti. Sandpiper, 1989. Compare the way penguin dads and human dads feed and care for their children!
Lakin, Patricia. Dad and Me in the Morning. Albert Whitman and Company, 1994. A deaf boy and his father share a special time as they watch the sun rise at the beach.

Ormerod, Jan. Dad's Back. Lothrop, Lee & Shepard, 1985. Delightful toddler book simply shows dad and baby playing.
Ormerod, Jan & Carol Thompson. Molly and her Dad. Roaring Brook Press, 2009. Molly meets her dad for the first time and finds he's a lot like her.

Register for the November Book Club beginning November 1 by clicking "Sign Me Up/Log In To The November Book Club" in the box to the left of the screen. Remember to set a reading goal to win a prize! The last day to log in books is November 30.

To be counted, books must be logged in on the website. Pick up a paper logging chart in the Children's Department or use a downloadable chart from the box to the left to keep track of books that you have read. Use the instructions on the chart to log in your books. Remember, only books logged in on-line will count.

Keep your spyglass at the ready! Watch out for even more swashbucklin' adventures at the library this November!

Mother Daughter Book Club

Enrich your relationship with books! The Mother Daughter Book Club will meet from 6:30 – 8:30 PM on the third Tuesday of each month in the Children's Department.

The club is open to girls in grades 2 and 3 and their mothers, who will discuss each month’s books. Please click "more info" for the full list of books to be read.

PA's One Book, Every Young Child reading initiative is an award-winning statewide effort that encourages adults to share books and stories with children. Throughout the state, including here in Centre County, young children will have a chance to read, to learn from the book, and to enjoy conversation and the many other activities that spring from reading.

ACTIVITIES @ SCHLOW!

TUESDAY, MARCH 22 @ 6:30: A Shoe Party! Meet author Stephen Swinburne - a special event for young readers that helps reading feel very personal. Learn more about his book and enjoy interactive Shoe Fun along with Shoe Cake! Explore what shoes can tell about someone's job, hobbies, or personality.
