Reading in the rain

I woke up this morning to sound of pouring rain - a perfect day to stay inside and read. I am in luck because I have several books to read this weekend! My only problem is prioritizing which one to read first. I have the new Elizabeth Peters book, The Laughter of Dead Kings, which is a new Vicky Bliss mystery that takes place in Egypt. Peters also writes a more well-known series about Amelia Peabody, which also often takes place in Egypt, so it is interesting to see what her different take will be in this series.

I finally got the second book by Charles Finch, September Society. This is another visit with Charles Lenox, a London gentleman who is able to look dispassionately at crime and still enjoy the everyday comforts of tea and hearth. These can only be described as gentile mysteries - not for those who prefer more graphic violence.

I am also reading materials to get ready for the Centre County Reads program. We have chosen the book title and will be releasing hints during November. I can tell you now to save the date of Sunday, January 18 at 2 PM for our kick-off program.
