Demolition of Library Building at Beaver and Allen

Schlow Centre Region Library shut down Feb. 2, leaving its home at 100 East Beaver Avenue in order to move to a temporary location - 118 South Fraser Street - former home of the State College Borough municipal building. The new library will be built on Beaver and Allen on a larger piece of land. The anticipated date for completion and move-in is mid 2005.

The library moved into the post office building in 1967.

Needing more space, an addition was built in 1986.

Library is located in its temporary quarters at 118 South Fraser Street.

The new library building is being designed by Hayes Large Architects.

Demolition of the old building - which was built in 1924 to serve as a post office - began May 26. Please check back for additional photos of the demolition.
