The Gallery at Schlow Centre Region Library

Schlow Centre Region Library is happy to exhibit the work of Mary Hamilton during the months of October and November, 2005. Mary was educated at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, The Tyler School of Art of Temple University in Philadelphia, and in Rome, Italy. She is a member of The Associated Artists of Pittsburgh and The Clarion County Arts Council.

Artist Statement
All my work is produced by the process of linoleum block printing. I use the reduction process by which a single block is progressively cut away and printed with progressively darker colors. I use oil based inks and print usually on Fabriano papers. My edition sizes are small and strictly limited by the process to the original number printed. These are not reproductions but are all original prints produced in my studio north of Pittsburgh. My primary influences are folklore, music, Celtic things, animals, dogs -- my dog Sundance -- oriental rugs and the general magic surrounding us at all times, everywhere.
