OK, it's April 2nd, Marvin Gaye's birthday, so I thought this post's title was appropriate. Anyhow, enough about my music preferences, there is a LOT going on at Schlow these days and I thought I'd share some of the inside scoop on all of these great things. We have all the 'typical' library events as well as some new and exciting changes at the library. April is One Book for Every Young Child month and the month our Children's department typically has their spring reading club. This year, we are going ELECTRONIC! Kids can join our book club ONLINE and log their books that way. This is kind of a test run for the Summer Reading Programs which will be offered online as well. Of course, you're welcome to come to the library to visit (in fact, we encourage it!). As much fun as using the internet is, it will never replace your friendly neighborhood librarian! Don't forget to drop into your local public library to exchange your card for the new "Centre County Federation of Public Libraries" card (it's forest green). This will help you to have access to catalogs of every public library in Centre County. You can place a request (hold [1]) on a book that is held by, let's say, Holt Library in Philipsburg and the book will be delivered to your home library (Bellefonte, Centre Hall, Aaronsburg, or Schlow!) at no extra charge as soon as it becomes available. In the past, you would need to place an interlibrary loan request to receive such a service which can take much longer. Wait until you see what we have in store for you this summer! There are performances, crafts, prizes, contests, and much much more! Get ready to read your art out at your favorite library!
