Childcare practitioners will learn how the development of early literacy skills - through interactive experiences with books and stories - is critically important to a child's success in learning to read.
During this workshop participants will:
Discuss activities that include informational books focusing on community, family life, and fathers.
Receive information about six pre-reading skills that lay a foundation for earyl literacy.
Learn key aspects to considerwhen choosing age-appropriate informational books.
Develop teaching materials in a make-it, take-it foramt.
Receive a booklist of informational read-alouds and on-line resources.

This training will fulfill the PA Pre-K Learning Standards P.L. 1.6, C 1.3, and S.S. 7.3. and meets the Core Body of Knowledge Area K3 C2 33. Keystone Stars will provide certificates.
