Schlow's Children's Department Staff are eager to assist you in any way that we can. Here's some information about each of us.

Anita has undertaken a variety of jobs. She has worked as a cook, a shoe salesman and a custodian for a laundromat. She transcribed medical records and even worked at Three Mile Island. She considered a career as a physical therapist but landed in library land instead - and found the career that was "just right!"

I am Ann (without an E!) and I love to cook, crochet, travel and of course I love books of all kinds!
I am one of the Saturday Story Time readers and it is always fun to think of art activities that go with the books I choose to read.
I also enjoy setting up the book displays in the Children's' Department.
I am always looking for new and different ideas for displays, so if you have any good book display ideas, please stop and let me know!

Anne is a proud State College native, who has always been a dedicated patron of Schlow library. She enjoys cooking new recipes and improbable, but believable, movies and shows. She has a degree from Penn State in English Literature because she loves reading. Looking for a sci-fi or fantasy book? Ask Anne for her professional opinion!

Once an English teacher and stay-at-home mom, Ms. Beth joined Schlow's Children's Department in 2008 when her youngest child started school. She has always enjoyed reading children's chapter books but also grew to admire our picture book collection as she read stacks [6]Bookshelves of them to her children - Liz, Matt, and Cassie. Now she has the opportunity to read fun picture books to children in story times. Her favorite children's authors are Richard Peck, EL Konigsburg, Shel Silverstein, Judy Sierra, and Mo Willems.

Malinda has always been involved with books, teaching and kids. She started volunteering in her school library in 5th grade and began teaching and reading to kids soon after that. As a child, she loved reading mysteries and stories about horses. The Chronicles of Narnia were a favorite series. Recently, she has been enjoying historical fiction and several fantasy series and still reads books aloud as part of her family's homeschooling. She enjoys planning and preparing art activities for Schlow kids, helping readers find just the right book and seeing families enjoy using the library together. The best thing about working at Schlow is hearing kids' enthusiasm for their favorite book and where those books take them!
[8]An avid reader since she was a young child, Rebecca pusued that love of reading in university and completed an English Literature degree. She worked for many years as a customer service manager before returning to school and completing her Masters of Information (librarian degree!). Her favorite book is Anne of Green Gables, and she knows lots about the book and the author, L.M. Montgomery - feel free to ask her about it! She reads widely and enjoys authors such as Eric Carle, Mo Willems, J.K. Rowling, Rick Riordan, and Lois Lowry. Rebecca also loves playing with new technology, so ask her about our online resources!

My name is Wendy and I have worked in the children's department for eleven years. I love presenting story times, making art for displays and especially helping you find good books! My husband and I have three children who have now flown the nest - but we are not too lonely - we replaced them with three crazy dogs! In my spare time I like reading, cooking, decorating and walking dogs!
