"One of my greatest pleasures is the act of taking a photograph," says artist and photographer Bob Baumbach. Baumbach's pleasure is fully visible in the exquisite photographs of Yellowstone National Park on display in his exhibit, Geysers and Hot Springs of Yellowstone, at Schlow Centre Region Library's Betsy Rodgers Allen Gallery from November 1 to November 30.

 

The photographs, rich with color and atmosphere, show the amazing diversity of Yellowstone's extraordinary Geyser Basins. From aquamarine waters to red-gold sands, the geysers are a study in color and texture that Baumbach captures with elegant nuance.

"My themes tend to be of nature and light, simplifying the scene and isolating an interesting composition," Baumbach writes. "My emphasis is on doing all I can in-camera, rather than the manipulation of the image on the computer."

 

A retired State College Area High School art and photography teacher, Baumbach serves on the Board of Directors of the Art Alliance of Pennsylvania, where he also acts as Adult Education Coordinator and teaches adult photography classes. He conducts business at Robert M. Baumbach Art and Photography, and his freelance work has appeared in Good Life Magazine and the Centre Daily Times.

This exhibition is free and open to the public.
