Philadelphia's Flying Sutra brings together State College native George Draguns on guitar and Bob Cozzolino on drums, and the duo produce a wild, angular klang equally influenced by free jazz, avant-punk, and heavy psychedelic music. Both men have lengthy musical resumes ranging from indie-rock to improvised music to film soundtracks, but the elemental swirl of their current sound is out in some other space beyond all that, and there's a fair chance that their live show will blow the roof off the place.
Flying Sutra's first CD Levitate and Dissolve [1] was released in 2007 on the Deep Water label, and this will be their first State College live appearance.
Detroit duo indoorpark features master fingerstyle folk guitarist Nick Schillace (whose playing has knocked out State College audiences several times in the past few years) in a more expansive rock context along with Jon Moshier on drums and electronics. With indoorpark, Schillace translates his sterling post-Fahey acoustic technique onto an (often effected) hollowbody guitar, while Moshier provides crisp driving rhythms and spacy sampled sounds. The pair's music takes in everything from folk-rock to surf music to post-rock, and is especially entrancing as they stretch out in a live setting.
indoorpark's debut CD The Neutral Mile [2] was released in 2007 on the Deep Water label, and this will be their first live appearance in State College.
