Collage Comment

Inventive and intriguing, Alyce Ritti's mixed-media collages are full of surprises. As she cuts, pastes and layers with diverse materials, she creates theatrical images that are sometimes satirical, sometimes sympathetic. Each is a single act, meant to start a conversation with the viewer.

A lifelong artist, her girlhood joy in making art was interrupted by a variety of things, including earning a PhD from Columbia University and a marriage of 56 years (so far) and a family of four now-grown children.

Upon moving to the ridge-side of Half-Moon Township in 1981, she was inspired by the beautiful landscape to re-immerse herself in painting. This led her to studies at Penn State's School of Visual Arts. Over time, she writes, "the landscapes moved inside me to become mindscapes and then my theatrical collages."

Ritti's first collage exhibits were with The International Pig Mail Art group centered in Belgium and Central Europe, and then elsewhere in Europe and the USA with the international Alliance of Women's Artists. The winner of multiple awards, her work has been featured in multiple juried and solo shows, including in Central Pennsylvania.

As Ritti says, "Right now the characters in my images tell me that they still have a lot to say and want to say it with paper cut-outs, feathers, netting, glitter, old tickets, jewelry, beads, yarn, ribbon and so on. The list is endless. So is the challenge."

The exhibition is open June 3rd to June 26th

Nature in Detail : Botanical Art

</xml><![endif]-->

Most of
Holly Fritchman's exquisite artwork is inspired by nature. From intricate portraits of a single acorn to
gorgeous landscapes of an autumn marsh, her work draws one in with its elegant
beauty.

Fritchman
describes "each art experience as a gift of time...every time I pick up my brush
or pencil, I see something new." Balancing the fine detail of watercolor and
pencil with the looseness of oil painting keeps her energized and curious.

Self-taught
in the mediums of pencil, watercolor and oil, she has studied at the Humboldt
Institute in Maine with a focus on watercolor botanicals. Her textured,
atmospheric landscape oil paintings were inspired by the Hameau Art Studio in
Belleville, PA.

Widely
exhibited in area galleries, Fritchman is also a member of the Farmland
Preservation Artists of Central Pennsylvania. She values the opportunity to
appreciate local farmlands and to support conservation measures by giving a
portion of her art sales to the conservation cause.

The art of being a pet

Artist Rachel DiAndrea's love for animals is immediately apparent in her colorful, engaging portraits of dogs, horses and even pigs. Particularly passionate about dogs, DiAndrea has established herself as a premier national canine illustrator.

What sets her apart from other canine artists is her ability to capture not only the breed, but the heart and soul of each beloved family pet. As a dog owner and lover herself, her enthusiasm and passion for her subjects is visible in each animal's distinctive personality.

A cum laude graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo with a BFA in communication design, DiAndrea is the recipient of national awards and recognition for her distinctive animal portraits in the varied mediums of French Pastel, Watercolor, and Pen and Ink.

She is also the author and illustrator of The Art of Being a Pet, a collection of rhyming, whimsical portraits that bring the featured pets to life, reminding us why they are so dear to us. DiAndrea's first book, its vibrancy and style dance with color and energy.

DiAndrea's work will be on display throughout the month of March in the Gallery.
