Scott Weidensaul – Learn the real scoop on bird migration from renowned naturalist Scott Weidensaul! An active field researcher specializing in birds of prey and hummingbirds, he is a hugely popular speaker who we are thrilled to welcome to BookFest PA.

The author of more than two dozen books, including Living on the Wind: Across the Hemisphere with Migratory Birds, Weidensaul’s work has appeared in Audubon, Smithsonian, the New York Times, Nature Conservancy, and National Wildlife

    • Whether you have children already in school or preschool, you may experience or anticipate challenges to juggling schedules, paperwork, homework, and trying to have time for family fun. We will look at different ways to manage the typical challenges.
  • Dynamics of Two-Parent Parenting
    • What if parents don't agree on ways to handle discipline? We will share information from the PSU Prevention Research Center on some of the basics for successful co-parenting.

    If your child's temperament is more intense, persistent, sensitive, perceptive, and/or energetic, he or she may be spirited! We will look at temperament, how it affects relationships in families, and how to focus on strengths.
     
  • October 7 - Mindful Parenting
    Parenting is often stressful in ways that can harm our relationships and even our health if prolonged. We will discuss and practice techniques that can help us slow down, be fully present, and feel more content in our families.
