Take the Book Quest to earn even more prizes!

  • Ages 3 to 12

Read a book from each of the 10 genres listed in your Summer Reading Event Calendar and write the title next to the appropriate category.

  • Drop by the Children's Desk to chat with a librarian and receive a prize after reading 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 genres. Complete all 10 and receive a book to keep! (One BookQuest prize may be redeemed per day.)
     
  • The Book Quest begins June 1, 2015 and must be returned to the Children’s Department by Thursday, August 20, 2015 to receive a prize.

Stop at the Children's Desk to pick up your Summer Reading Events Calendar OR download as a PDF (attached at the bottom of the page) to get started today!

Escape the Ordinary!

  • Ages 3 to 12

Earn a ticket for every day that you read a minimum of 20 minutes. Log on to our website to keep track of each day that you read!

  • Registration begins Monday, May 18, 2015.
  • Start tracking your reading on Monday, June 1, 2015.
  • Read 3 weeks (21 days) in a row and receive 25 extra tickets!
  • Check-ins end 30 minutes before the library closes.

Check in at the library to receive your tickets and place them in the prize drawing box of your choice. Prize winners are selected at random, but the more days you read, the more tickets you will have in your chosen box! The first weekly prize drawing will be on Thursday, June 18.

The last day to check in for tickets will be Wednesday, August 19. The final prize drawing will be on Thursday, August 20

Read 3,500 pages by July 31 to be invited to one of our Pizza Parties! 

Preschool Pizza Party

  • Thursday, August 6 at 1pm in the Downsbrough Community Room, Schlow Library
  • To attend this pizza party, a child must be between 3 to 5 years of age. Parents should remain at the party; however, pizza will only be provided for the children who earned their spot.
  • Participation goal: 3,500 pages read by July 31.
  • Register for our Summer Reading Program online and keep a record of the number of pages read throughout the summer for each child on our Preschool Pizza Party Book Log. 
  • Download Preschool Pizza Party Book Logs from our website (attached below), or stop by the Library for more!
  • Once the total is over 3,500 pages, return all Log pages to the Children's Desk to receive your Preschool Pizza Party permission slip. 
  • Return permission slips by Wednesday, August 5, 2015

School-Age Pizza Party

  • Thursday, August 13 at 1:30pm or 3pm at Hi-Way Pizza, 1688 North Atherton Street
  • To attend this pizza party, children must be ages 5-12, completed Kindergarten, and be able to sit at the party without a parent. (Due to space constraints, parents may not remain in the party area.)
  • Participation goal: 3,500 pages read by July 31. 
  • The child must keep a record of the number of pages read throughout the summer on our School-Age Pizza Party Book Log and be registered for our Summer Reading Program online. 
  • Download Preschool Pizza Party Book Logs from our website (attached below), or stop by the Library for more!
  • Once the total is over 3,500 pages, return all Log pages to the Children's Desk to receive your School-Age Pizza Party permission slip.
  • Return permission slips by Friday, August 7, 2015.
