Meet the 2020 Centre County Reads Author

Join us for the culmination of our annual community read of Alice McDermott’s book, Charming Billy! The novel won the National Book Award for fiction in 1998. Her eighth book, The Ninth Hour (2017) appeared on numerous “best books of the year” lists. Three of her previous novels were finalists for the Pulitzer Prize. McDermott is the Richard A. Macksey Professor of the Humanities at Johns Hopkins University and a member of the New York State Writers Hall of Fame. She will visit the Centre Region courtesy of Penn State University’s English Department and the Mary E. Rolling Reading series.
