Physical benefits of meditation include muscle relaxation, lowered blood pressure, and increased circulation. Mental benefits include calmness, enhanced awareness, and greater mental focus. Research indicates that meditation "rewires" the brain to throw off stress and produce happiness.
This virtual 90-minute workshop will review the main forms of meditation practiced in the United States, discuss some of the scientific research supporting the practice, review the philosophical implications of the transformation of consciousness that it brings about, and provide instruction in three useful meditation techniques. In this workshop, the most crucial part of the practice occurs during the last 30 minutes, so participants should plan to attend the full event.
The instructor, Patrick Breslin, a professor of communication, has been practicing and teaching meditation for over 40 years.
Registration is required.
