Summer Reading 2018

Summer Reading 2018 - Libraries Rock!

Parking Reminder

We do our best to ensure that library parking is being used by library patrons! Library parking is limited and available on a first come, first served basis, so please only use our lot while you are in the Library building or you may be towed. Note: Please find alternative parking for any programs held outside of the Library, including the Read It, Watch It movie series at The State Theatre. Ask us for our Downtown Parking map if you need suggestions!

Are you ready for a rockin' summer?! Babies through adults are invited to participate in Schlow Library's Summer Reading program! Earn chances at fantastic prizes, engage in new experiences, and read to your heart's content - all summer long!

  • We are where you are...even during Summer Reading! Our online system - reading.schlowlibrary.org - can be accessed anywhere, anytime.
  • Registration began on Monday, May 21...but you can join the fun through mid-August.
  • The program started on Friday, June 1, so any reading and activities done on or after that day count toward the program!
  • Summer Reading will end on Wednesday, August 15.

Babies - Age 2

  • Read and log 50 books to earn a prize book! Keep going with our 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program.

Ages 3 - 12

Our program has three parts - participate in one or all!

  • SummerQuest - Read books from 10 different genres and do 10 activities! Every SummerQuest participant will earn one prize for every two book + activity pairs they complete. Finish all five pairs and win a prize book!
  • Daily Tickets - Earn a ticket for every day that you read at least 20 minutes! Use these tickets to enter the drawings at the library for a chance to win special bonus prizes.
  • Super Reader Parties - Read 3,500 pages by July 31 to earn an invitation to one of our special reading parties!

Ages 12 - 17

Read and complete Quests to win entries into weekly and grand prize drawings.

  • Get started by setting your reading goal. Use your reading log to track your progress-- reading at least 20 minutes a day and reaching your reading goal are the best ways to win prizes!
  • Use your Quests Tab to challenge yourself to read new books, attend more events, and review books for other teens. All of those will get you more chances to win!
  • This year's Grand Prizes are great! You can win a Nintendo Switch with Breath of the Wild game, an iPad, a 2019 Season Pool Pass, a $100 Kranich's Jewelers gift card, a Large plush Doughnut, or a Large Plush Pizza.

Ages 18+

Read and complete Quests to win entries into weekly and grand prize drawings.

  • Get started by setting your reading goal. Each book you read is an entry into our drawings, but reaching your goal makes you eligible for grand prizes. The more you read the better your chances to win weekly and grand prizes.
  • Complete your Reading Log to enter weekly drawings. Try our Quests to read new genres, attend events, and review books for other local readers for more chances to win.
  • Our excellent Grand Prizes include a Kindle Fire HD 8, a Kindle Paperwhite, 4 $100 Kranich's Jewelers Gift Cards, and a $100 Target Gift Card.

Special addition for 2018!  Adults and teens can earn more entries by reading books from the Great American Read program on PBS. Don't forget to vote for your favorite
