We are terribly sad to share with you that Dennie Huber has passed. Over the years, Dennie entertained hundreds and hundreds of children at our library and countless more throughout the state, and he will be sorely missed by everyone who had the joy of meeting him. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.

In his honor, there will be no program on Thursday afternoon. Instead, we invite you to visit the Children’s Department to share your favorite Dennie story with us and do as Dennie always did – create something beautiful and fun.

Celebrating the Art of the Comic!

The full list of BookFest events can be found on the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts website. Or, download the brochure below.

Since its founding in 2009, BookFest has grown into an important community event that celebrates something many of us take for granted – the book!

In 2015, after more than four years of celebrating authors of memoirs, local history, and fiction, event organizers began to focus on authors and artists working in an often over-looked medium, the comic.

Meet authors and artists who have worked for Marvel, Archie, and DC, as well as the independents who design their own path. Events include a costume contest, presentations by the authors themselves, and board games!

  • When: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Where: Schlow Centre Region Library parking lot and BookFest Tent.

Many thanks to this year’s sponsors: America’s Most Wanted Comics & Collectibles, The Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts, Comic Swap, Nittany Con, The Pennsylvania Center for the Book, and Udon Publishing!

  • Where: Downsbrough Community Room

A little about Mr. Music (also known as Lenny Tepsich):

Guitar in one hand and his audience in the other, Lenny Tepsich greets children and they light up with anticipation.  When he leaves, they never forget having met Mr. Music.   He motivates kids with simple songs sung by children for generations as well as original tunes he writes just for them.  In 1988, his daughter’s kindergarten class nicknamed him Mr. Music (they couldn’t say Mr. Tepsich) and it stuck!

For over 30 years he’s been a featured performer at Hershey Park. He has performed at the Library of Congress, the Smithsonian Institute, Honolulu Academy of the Arts, and festivals, schools, and libraries throughout the United States.

When Lenny is not performing, he enjoys spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He looks forward to singing for the “next generation” and continuing his unending devotion to his love of music and children.
