Cancelled - KNOW Book Club
Schlow is happy to present the KNOW Book Club with our partner, the Jana Marie Foundation.
Students in grades 9-12 are invited to join Jana Marie Foundation for our winter book club!
KNOW Book Club provides an opportunity for self-discovery and self-reflection through vibrant discussions surrounding carefully selected works of literature. In addition, KNOW will create connections, build community, and give readers the chance to think about their own mental health and the role mental health and wellness plays in our lives.
The young adult titles we will explore will have stories and themes related to mental health that tend to be relevant to young people today, and that tie to the mission of Jana Marie Foundation. We will encourage weekly reading of specific chapters in the chosen book each week in order to discuss those chapters as a group when we meet. Reading is a powerful source for seeking knowledge, thinking freely and critically, and learning more about the world around us. When it comes to mental health, Jana Marie Foundation feels the more you KNOW, the more you can empower yourself and others to be their best!
- What: A four-week winter book club
- When: Wednesdays, beginning January 31 at 4:30 PM
- Where: Schlow Library, 2nd Floor Sun Room
Details: Books will be provided on loan and FREE by Jana Marie Foundation
Featured Book: The Book Club will read John Green's Turtles All the Way Down this winter. Parents, consider reader reviews at commonsensemedia.org, from Mental Health Foundation, and the The New York Times before your student registers. (Young readers are welcome to recommend future titles!)
