This year's Summer Reading Program invites participants to "Color Our World". Get outside and explore all the colors of your world by joining us for the inaugural Sweatin' For Schlow Virtual 5K! At Schlow Library, we are where you are, wherever that may be. This event gives us an opportunity to come together as a community, enjoy nature, and kick off the Summer Reading Program.
It's easy to participate!
- Register by filling out the form below by May 1st
- Log your time between May 22nd and June 5th
- Attach your photo(s) to be eligible for the award categories
- Attend the IN-PERSON Sweatin' For Schlow Virtual 5K Reception on June 20th from 6pm-8pm in the Downsbrough Community Room (optional)
Keeping with the literary theme of our event, in lieu of medals, bookplates in materials that will be added to Schlow Library's collection will be awarded to the winners in the following categories:
- Most Schlow Spirit
- Most Unusual Running Mate
- Best Literary Character Costume
- Most Unusual Race Location
- Most Colorful Racing Attire
- First Person To Log Their Time
- Last Person To Log Their Time
Winners will be chosen by members of the Schlow Library Foundation and the books will be on display at the IN-PERSON Sweatin' For Schlow Virtual 5K Reception.

FAQs About the Sweatin' For Schlow Virtual 5K
Do I have to run to participate?
No! Any form of activity counts as long as it is done for a finite amount of time. Run, walk, swim, bike, sashay, the kind of activity is up to you.
How much does it cost to register?
The cost is $25 for each registrant.
Do I have to attend the IN-PERSON reception?
No. We would love to celebrate all the good that you have done for Schlow and our community, but you do not need to attend. Please note that the reception is IN-PERSON in the Downsbrough Community Room.
What if I win an award? Do I have to attend the IN-PERSON reception then?
No. Your award will be on display but you do not need to be present at the reception if you win an award. If you'd like to see the book that contains your bookplate after the reception, you are welcome to request the book through our website. On a side note, your name will be searchable in our catalog for as long as the book remains in circulation.

I won an award! Do I get to keep the book?
No. You are welcome to check out the book, but the book will be added to our collection for the entire community to enjoy.
Are children able to participate?
Yes! Although registrants must be 16 years of age or older to register, children can be registered as additional participants under a qualifying adult registration. There will be an additional $25 fee for each additional registrant.
Where do I log my time?
Anytime between May 22nd and June 5th, participate in an activity anywhere you are then return to this site to log your time.
I registered but I forgot to log my time. Now what?
That's okay! You are still be eligible to attend the IN-PERSON Sweatin' For Schlow Virtual 5K Reception, you just won't be eligible for any of the awards.
I want to support the Library, but I don't want to participate in a 5K.
