2023 Yarn Mural with The Downtown State College Improvement District

2023 Yarn Mural for Reader's Garden

This year, Schlow is partnering with the Downtown State College Improvement District to brighten up town with a collaborative fiber project! The previous balloon mural was so delightful, we've decided to do another one, this time of flowers to be installed on the gates of Schlow's Readers' Garden. To grow our yarn garden, we need your help!

We are looking for folks who can use yarn to make flowers. The colors and style of flower are up to you!
Our only requests are that you:

  • use acrylic yarn (great way to use up some acrylic in your stash)
  • keep the size larger than a saucer but smaller than a dinner plate
  • make a sturdy object that will hold up to the elements
  • attach a loop to the back of the pistil of your flower we can feed our stems and vines through

Here are some sample patterns to help you along, but feel free to do whatever works best for you!
