Spring Break at Schlow

Bring kids in to enjoy Discovery Days

If your family is doing a staycation this Spring Break, which is March 9-15 for Penn State and the State College Area School District, Schlow Centre Region Library has a week full of Discovery Days in its Children’s Department that are sure to entertain the kids!

Discovery Days are held 11am to 2pm March 9 to 13, except for Thursday, March 12, when the activity will be held from noon to 3pm.

Here are the creative crafts that will be happening this year!

Monday, March 9: Make funny, fluffy sheep using doilies and construction paper.

Tuesday, March 10: Use ribbons and streamers to decorate a paper wreath kite to catch the spring breezes.

Wednesday, March 11: Make a colorful 3D rainbow with a pot of gold at its end.

Thursday, March 12: Celebrate National Plant a Flower Day by making cheery paper hyacinth flowers.

Friday, March 13: With March 14 being National Learn about Butterflies Day, learn some fun facts while creating butterfly artwork.

Some other events for children and adults happening at Schlow during Spring Break week include the Nittany Valley Writers’ Network presenting “The Heart and Mind of a Thriller” with local authors Jen Delozier and Sarah Stephens at 6:30pm Tuesday, March 10; Schlow Stitchers meeting at 6pm Thursday, March 12; Comics Club meeting at 4pm Friday, March 13; Saturday Stories Alive at 11am Saturday, March 14; and Go & Chess Clubs at 2pm Saturday, March 14.
