Find Comfort at Schlow

Library providing access and no worries!

During the past few months, all of us have experienced an array of emotions — from sadness and anger to worry and confusion. We have been inspired to see how our neighborhoods and communities have responded to the COVID-19 pandemic and stay-at-home orders.

In this time where there is so much uncertainty, Schlow Centre Region Library has made it our goal that your connection with the library will not be something you have to worry about.

While our building is closed in response to the coronavirus, access remains one of our guiding principles. No materials are due during this time, and no fines are being charged. Blocks on library cards, which under normal circumstances would prevent patrons from using our digital offerings, have been removed. We also have made it easy to sign up for a library card online using

After making it easier to access Schlow’s digital library, we have expanded our online offerings Patrons can still find eBooks and eAudiobooks through OverDrive and on the Libby and RBDigital apps, as well as films to stream on Kanopy. We have added Hoopla and its more than 700,000 eBooks, eAudiobooks, comics, movies, music, and more. Children's librarians continue to support and encourage early childhood development and a love of reading through virtual storytimes. All Schlow librarians are working hard to develop a completely virtual Summer Reading Program designed to help kids, teens, and adults find books they love. has made its online resources available to library card holders for a limited time, and TumbleBooks has expanded its collection for readers of all ages.

Also, soon after Schlow had to close its building, we began offering Zoom rooms for patrons to reserve and use, and we have made our WiFi available for free in our parking lot.

These are just some of the ways Schlow has continued to provide resources, entertainment, and services to the community.

This has been a challenging time for everyone. Schlow Library is thankful for the support and understanding the Centre Region community has shown not only to us, but to all of the businesses and nonprofit organizations in our area. We are proud to serve this region and will continue to do everything we can to make sure the library — both the building and our digital branch — is a place to find comfort and community now and always!
